SWC Mid Process Pin-up

Today was our mid process pin-up with Will Steger and our group project was based on circulation and accessibility, which within my group is Jan & Sirena. Jan main focus was on the visitor portion of circulation and accessibility while Sirena included renderings of the Bates Motel. My main focus within the group was to focus on the staff portion of the circulation and accessibility of the Will Steger Center. This pin-up helped us understand the visual aspect of where we are at with our studies and provided us with the necessary feedback to improve our work for Will Steger.

SWC Base Map - JJS - Phase 1

I incorporated my studies of circulation and accessibility into three different phases. Existing buildings are indicated in black and new buildings are indicated in red. Phase one being full construction and how the staff (dashed lines) use the roads. The blue line indicated on the map showed how staff vehicle will utilize the roads. In phase one, the staff are building ten staff and visitor housing for the Steger Wilderness Center. Along with that, finishing the washed house.

In phase two, four five star cabins will be built along with a barrack. A charge station will provide new modes of electric transportation and help guide the staffs. The staff will start new garden and built new solar panels. The transition of the staff circulation will change into this new areas.

In phase three. the teachers housing and student housing will be built. In addition the teacher center and dining hall will be added in this phase. The rest of the cabin will also be built and this will be Will Steger Center full capacity outlook. This will help provide an understanding to how the staff circulates around the Will Steger Center.

There is more work to be  done and i liked some of the ideas my other classmates put forth in their projects. Circulation and accessibility is a small portion of this project and eventually this will provide a general outlook and connection to the other projects. Using what the other students utilize and how that will be use in my project will help me understand and try to create something that will be beneficial to Will Steger’s goal.
